The OpenDocument Format (ODF) has become widely recognized and increasingly accepted by public sector authorities who increasingly understand and appreciate the value and utility of open formats.

Government adoption of ODF has continued at a steady pace. To date, Twenty-five governments – seventeen national and 8 provincial – have now adopted pro-ODF policies.
